How to Shatter Your Competition

by Ray Edwards

I’ve titled this article How to Shatter Your Competition. I hope you’re not offended by the sensational title, but I wanted your attention.

Despite the title, I’m not a mean-spirited guy. There are many opportunities for everyone to gain wealth. I want everyone to do well; I just want YOU to do BETTER! I know you can - you just need a bit of help.

Most marketers find that it is a slug-fest to stay ahead of the competition, they struggle and struggle just to stay even with the competition, when, in reality, victory is only about 2mm away. Let me explain:

I went to a Tony Robbins event recently. You’ve probably heard of his events, where participants walk barefoot over hot coals. Well, it changed my life. Now, I’m not trying to brag about walking on fire (well, I want to brag a little bit, you must admit, walking on fire is a pretty amazing thing to do!). I bring it up to mention one of the most important lessons I learned from Tony - there is only 2 mm of difference between being good (or even excellent) and being absolutely outstanding.

Pilots must navigate accurately. What happens if they start off 2mm off-course? Over time, they could end up miles away from their destination, maybe even miss the airport altogether!

Or consider a world-class plastic surgeon, an expert in his field. He creates dramatic results, improving a person’s looks dramatically. And yet, despite these amazing results, he only makes a 2 mm change to a person’s face.

So what does this have to do with you and your business? I believe the difference between surviving in business and thriving in business is only 2 mm. Really, it doesn’t take much effort to get dramatic results.

You don’t need to beat your competition in every part of their business. If you can beat them in at least three categories that matter to your clients, you will win out. And remember, you only need to beat them by 2 mm!

Check out these five “2 mm Differences” that can make a huge difference to your business. If you pick three, only three, and work hard at those three, you will destroy your competition. Here they are:

1. Improve your image. By improving the look and feel of your website, you will gain an edge over your competition.

2. Follow up! This can have a big impact on your clients. They will appreciate feeling wanted, needed, and respected.

3. Tracking and Testing. Keep track of what works and what doesn’t. Whether your client knows about this or not, it will make a big difference. This will help you find the language that grabs their attention and gets them sales.

4. Adwords Campaigns. I’ve been guilty of neglecting this myself! Most online marketers don’t spend time on their Adwords marketing. This must change! By becoming 2 mm better in this area, combined with two other areas, you will destroy your competition.

5. Backend Sales. Why stop with just one sale, when you can provide ongoing sales to clients? Look for ways to provide more products or services to customers after their first purchase.

Of course, there are many ways to improve, not just the five I have listed. The point is that you only need to make small changes in three different areas to get a leg up on the competition. Try it, and see how well it works for you!

A Linguistical Dance: Repetition In Threes

by Kenrick Cleveland

“Rhythm is something you either have or don’t have, and when you have it, you have it all over.” -Elvis Presley

It starts in the womb with the thump of the mothers’ heartbeat. Then come lullabies, rocking chairs, and bouncing the baby for relaxation. Rhythms lull us. Rhythms soothe.

The goal of repetition in threes is to establish a rhythm so that we can embed suggestions.

Additionally, symbolically the number three has extraordinary power in our society. The Trinity. Most every major religion on the planet talks about three things, God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit.

Repetition in three works on a subconscious level in reference to religion. If the people you are trying to persuade are highly religious, this can have a powerful impact on them.

Even in humanist psychology, they talk about the id, the ego and the super ego. The conscious mind, the sub conscious mind and the super conscious mind.

Here’s an example of repetition in threes: Today, there are a few things that I believe so intensely, that I want to emphasize so strongly, that I believe in with all my soul, that I’m going to do my best to try to take the position of a father who’s giving this information to his beloved son in such a way that he can infuse his heart with the spirit of the message such that it’s really understood through and through and there is a resulting change, such that today, by the time we’ve gone through this process together, you will experience this information in a whole new way.

Not only will you be thrilled by it, not only will you feel incredible about it, not only will you have a sense of comprehension that you’ve never had before, but you’ll begin to experience how it will work in your life. Now I want you to understand that for me this is a mission, it’s a mission that I live my life for every day. See, my dad taught me something important when I was young, he said, ‘Kenrick, if you love what you do for a living, you’ll never work a day in your life.’

And he also taught me that if you don’t like what you do then every day will be a struggle and a fight. So I realized early on I had to love it and it’s my mission to help people understand these principles just like I do so that they can have a change of life, they can completely accept into their heart a new way of understanding, a new way of dealing with this subject matter and that’s my goal for us today as we talk.

Let’s analyze the previous three paragraphs. One, there’s all sorts of religious symbolism in there. I used the father, son and Holy Spirit symbolism to infuse you with that sense.

The second benefit, and one of the main reasons this works, is that I’m repeating my message over and over. I use this to repeat the things I most want installed.

Thirdly, when spoken in a smooth cadence and with emphasis on the important words, this pattern utilizes the rhythms that we, by nature, are so lulled by. This puts our affluent prospects in a receptive mode which makes persuasion easy.

Designing An Effective Email Lead Page

Squeeze pages, also referred to as lead generator pages, are a very useful tool for any internet marketer.

Squeeze pages are designed with one purpose in mind. Their sole aim is to prize an email address out of a visitor. After that, you can market to them to your heart's content. But you can't do that until they sign up for your list!

Firstly, pick a template for your lead generation page. You can find landing page templates for free or for a small charge. Or you can have one designed specially for you. The free option is OK if your market isn't saturated. Don't use them for more competitive markets such as dieting, day trading, internet marketing and even dog training. If you don't do this, there's a high chance that your potential customer will have encountered a near-identical squeeze page so many times before, they're bored with it. So they would be more likely to click the back button.

Next, change your template. At the very least, you'll want to put in your own headline and bullet points. You may also want to split test your headlines to make sure that you’re getting the maximum number of sign-ups. Some marketers have reported that they regularly get 7 out of ten people signing up from the squeeze pages they create.

You can also test other elements on your lead generation page. Most of the time, people report that they get better results when they add audio messages to their squeeze pages. Test this as well as whether the message plays automatically when a visitor reaches your squeeze page.

Nowadays, you will find video appearing more frequently on squeeze pages. Many marketers have found that using a "part one" video on their squeeze page with "part two" only available after sign-up is a very effective technique. If you want to take this path, make sure you leave your readers with a "cliff hanger" at the end of part one. Just like the ones they used to have om Saturday mornings at the movies. If you don't rememer these, think of the ending of an episode of the television show "24". Make sure your viewer is hungry for more information. Which you'll let them have - once they've confirmed their email address.

You can get your squeeze pages designed at the click of a button with this simple lead page generator.

Creative Logo Design by Logoworks

Logos are something that companies use to identify their brand. A correctly designed logo can cause someone to instantly identify the company associated with the logo. Making sure you have a logo that truly represents your company is essential to the longevity of your business.

Not that long ago, when a business wanted to get a quality logo designed for their business, they would have to spend many thousands of dollars to have a professional design firm produce custom logos. Luckily, that is not the case anymore, with the advent of the online logo design company.

Logoworks is a leader when it comes to online logo design companies. They are a division of Hewlett-Packard, and they have the resources and capability to create an absolutely unique, one of a kind logo for your small business.

With prices for graphic design logos starting at just $299, no company has a good reason why they don’t have a custom logo to represent their business. When you use Logoworks, you get an initial number of original logo design concepts to start with, from which you decide which design you want to go with. From there, the unique logo concept is updated and you get a unique logo made just for your company.

What makes Logoworks unique is that you have the ability to actually pick up the phone and talk to them about your logo design. A lot of places that provide affordable logo design don’t allow you to actually talk to somebody, so you can only do business with them via email.

Given that your company does not currently use a custom logo design, then you need to give a hard look at Logoworks logo service to determine if there is a custom logo plan that will work for you. Custom logos will differentiate you company from your competition and will give you back much more than what the logo ended up costing you.

Getting the Link For Your Blog

Click here for more on how to make money blogging. We’ve already optimized our blog to rank well for search results of certain keywords that we’re targetting, but here comes the sad news – it affects your ranking in only very minor ways. Even if you even write about free life insurance quotes on line. However, don’t skip this step as every little bit helps when you’re competing for search engine rankings!

Now, we’re moving on to offpage search engine optimization. That is, factors that are not on your blog but affect your search engine rankings very greatly. There are a lot of offpage factors, but we shall study them one by one. The first and most obvious one is the number of links to your blog.

As a general rule of thumb, the more links to your blog, the more the search engines think you are an authority in that particular niche and hence the higher they rank you. However, take care to observe the quality of the links. For example, a thousand links from totally irrelevant sites like on line dating sites would not help at all because your blog is a technological product blog. In contrast, a single link from a highly authoritative site about technological gadgets will get the search engines crawling about your blog like the Feds storming a crack den…

Anyway, the most cost effective way of getting high quality links from authoritative sites is simply to ask for it. If your blog contains high quality content that is original and will provide valuable information to the site’s readers, chances are the webmaster(s) will link to your blog or even write about you!

Let’s talk about how we should ask these webmasters of authority to link to your blog. We’re discussing this based on the presumption that your blog is really content rich and offer high quality information to anyone in your niche or topic of discussion. The most viable option would be to send an email directly to the webmaster.

First, let’s look for the top sites in your niche. Simply search the major search engines for the term that you’re targetting. In this case, let’s search for “technological gadgets”. The first few results, www.t3.co.uk and www.acarplace.com/brands/gm/gadgets.html are commercial sites, so don’t bother asking. We’re looking for community-based sites and other blogs that are more accessible to a complete newcomer like you. Seems like www.gizmodo.com would be a good option!

So, compose an email to the webmaster of www.gizmodo.com (whose email address you shall find on the site). They even have their AIM contact there, so it’s also a good choice if you use AOL Instant Messenger. Start by stating how you came across their site (i.e. “looking for gadget information”, NOT “looking for link partners!”) and how you think their site provides valuable info. Basically, try to say something really good about their site honestly.

Then, suggest that so-and-so content on your own blog will be a nice complement to their site’s content and vice versa. Put a link on your blog to their site and ask subtly if they might be able to do the same to weld a mutually beneficial relationship between the site and your blog.

Along the way, you might find people who won’t even respond to your email, so forget about them and move on. Remove the links from your blog to their site if they have not responded to your email within two weeks, which is a pretty long wait.

Keep doing this for the first 30 search results that pop up, and before long you should have quite a few good sites all linking to you. In the next article, we shall explore further the more advanced offpage factors, and ways to improve them!
